Vejle Boldklub and Mohammed Al-Hardan has extended the contract, so it now runs until the summer of 2020. The midfielder joined VB from Al-Muharraq SC in Bahrain in August last year and has been through a good development while at the club. The 20-year-old Bahraini has gotten closer and closer to playing time and was last week a part of the initial 19 player squad against FC Roskilde.

VB’s sporting strategy is based upon developing young players from the academy along with talented young foreign players. This strategy has previously led to the sale of players like Pan Qihao and Wang Xin. The work with developing young players continue, and has lead to Al-Hardan’s contract extension.

Vejle Boldklub’s technical director, Jacob Krüger, says the following about the reasoning behind the extension of the contract, that initially was going to expire this summer.

  • Mohammed Al-Hardan has developed well since he joined early in the fall last year. He has grown remarkably in his time at the club, and has worked hard with our coaching staff to improve and get closer to playing for the first team. We believe there is a lot of potential in Al-Hardan and we are excited to continue to help him develop in the future.

Mohammed Al-Hardan came from a non-professional club in Bahrain to Vejle Boldklub, and the process of becoming a full-time professional football player has been a big change for the Bahraini.

  • I am living out my dream as a professional football player in a European club, and it is big step to come to Vejle and Denmark. Everything is very professional in VB, and I am continuously developing here. I came from a completely different level, and it is the first time I am playing football in a club outside Bahrain. The biggest difference is the physical side and the speed that both my teammates and our opponents possess, but I am working everyday to become better and get closer to the first team. I am still a young player, and I have a lot to learn and improve in the coming years.

Al-Hardan was born on the 6th of October, 1997, and play in the central midfield. He is the captain of the Bahrain Under-21 national team.
